Dj Lum-lum is a South African Dj who is currently based in Ningbo, China. Growing up I loved music and dancing. I would express my feelings, emotions and mood through dancing. When I arrived in Beijing I neglected my talent but still loved music. Later in 2021 I decided to learn how to Dj and that’s when I joined MJDADJ’s Dj Academy. MJDADJ himself taught me how to Dj as he is one of the best djs in China. I am a fast learner therefore just after a few sessions I was able to have my first gig at a Chesanyama event in Beijing.
Having only learnt Amapiano from MJDADJ (the Beijing’s own Amapiano King as they call him), I later learnt how to play variety music that caters to all multitudes through deejaying in clubs and bars like Underground club, Mango Bar, Live House, Family-Friend events even Birthdays and 7o2 Media to name a few and most recent Shades Lounge.
Although I love playing in events, my love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. I also have love and skill for playing the acoustic guitar .
DJ LUM-LUM usually would post her mixtapes and share them on wechat group chats, and to friends and family.
For DJ LUM-LUM, it’s all about mood and a deep, hypnotic groove, playing those dance tracks that get you dancing and getting you to enjoy your time without you realizing it, regardless of tempo, style or release date. In China you get exposed to a diverse group of people who listen to different genres of music so I had to learn to play different genres and cater for the crowd. I’m an open format Dj but what I’m best at is Amapiano and Afrobeats. Not only do I dj but also dance along with the crowd which makes me express both passions at once and more relatable.
