Fatou travelled to Australia in 1994 to join a Sydney based West African band where she performed for some five years. Fatou established the first professional African Hair Salon in Newtown, Sydney ‘Fatous Hair Architect’ that has inspired other African hair specialists across Australia for over 30 years. Fatou has won numerous awards and is a member of the Australian Hair expo, teaching across NSW TAFE and sought after internationally by renowned musicians such as Snoop Dog, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan etc, TV programs and artist to style their hair. For the past 18 years Fatou has represented Australia across the Asia Pacific Hair Olympics and is now an award winning judge for Australia for the Judge Asia Pacific Hairdresser & Cosmetologist Association (APHCA). Fatou say’s… “I am proud to represent my country of Senegal and wear my traditional dress where ever I represent Australia for I know I have made a difference in building a strong global community through my culture”.
